How often do you shop online? What do you buy? What are your favorite online shops?

Everyone knows that I’m an avid Ebay buyer. I’ll buy discontinued makeup items, shoes, clothes, accessories for my gadgets, everything! I also like to purchase makeup online from sites like Beauty.com because they have lots of cool offers that either save money or provide free samples.

Fab Food: Skinny Omelette Recipe

March 28, 2008 / Filed under Recipes. One Comment

I absolutely love eggs. I could eat them everyday. Probably because you can’t really get bored with them when there are so many different ways to prepare them. Omelettes are probably the most fun because you can add lots of yummy things into them. Green peppers, mushrooms… the options are endless.

With this recipe we’ll be preparing a large, “skinny” omelette (by spreading it thin) then using it to make a veggie wrap with feta cheese. Yum! Feel free to omit an ingredient or be creative by adding your own tasty components.

Skinny Omelette

Ingredients

2 large (preferably organic) eggs
a tiny pinch of fine grain sea salt
a few tablespoons of chopped chives
a dollop of pesto
a bit of goat cheese or feta
a small handful of mixed salad greens

Preparation

Using a fork, beat the eggs in a small bowl and add a pinch of salt. Beat well, until the eggs are mostly uniform in color - they seem to run around the pan more evenly when there aren’t huge patches of yolk vs. whites.

In a large, non-stick skillet over medium heat pour the egg mixture. Give the mixture a good swirl so that they spread out thinly across the entire pan. Sprinkle the eggs with some of the chives and let them set, this happens quickly depending on the heat of your pan - 15 seconds to one minute. Run a spatula underneath the omelette and slide it out of the pan (flat) onto a countertop, large cutting board or cookie sheet. Do this with confidence (or practice). Spread the pesto across the surface of the omelette (if you have a thick pesto, thin it a bit with water to make it easily spreadable), and then sprinkle with the cheese and salad greens. Starting with one end, roll the omelette away from you. Cut in half on a deep diagonal. Season with a bit more salt if needed and serve garnished with a few chopped chives.

Serves one or two. Lovely!

Gladiator Heels
A “Step Up” From Gladiator Sandals!

Gladiator sandals have been taken to new heights this season as we’re seeing gladiator heels and platforms emerging in constrast to last year’s flats. The hottest gladiator heel colors are the metallics: gold and silver. Next would be earth-tone beige gladiator heels that go perfect with the very earthen, pastel tie-dye dresses this spring. The added heel makes gladiator sandals perfect for your everyday skinny jeans, adding style and height to your look.

It’s been a while since I’ve done a piece on blog marketing and promotion, although the topic has gotten a lot of buzz (see: How To Market Your Blog Part One, How To Market Your Blog Part Two, and How To Market Your Blog Part Three). Whether you’re blogging for extra cash or just want to get your writing out to the masses, search engines are a crucial means to get more traffic from people who are looking for exactly what you’ve blogged about. In My Bag: Jane “One Liners” Self-Sharpening Eye Liner

March 25, 2008 / Filed under Personal Digest. 6 Comments

My beauty bag staple, must-have, whathaveyou is definitely black eyeliner. I feel so naked without it! It truly picks up my face and completes all of my makeup looks. I’m often told that I look “tired” without it. Today would be one of those naked days since I’ve used up my new drugstore fave eyeliner Jane One Liners Self-Sharpening Eyeliner. I used Jane One Liners in Blackline in this video. My favorite thing about this liner is that, not only is it only $4 (drugstore steep, maybe, but cheap compared to my usual high-end makeup buys), but the twist-up “self-sharpening” kohl is perfect for quick and easy application. You never have to sharpen this baby! The only con is that if you use eyeliner as much as I do, Jane One Liners will only last for about a month.

All in all, I give Jane One Liners a thumbs up and will purchase again!

Color Story: Lancome “L.U.C.I.” Spring 2008

March 23, 2008 / Filed under Summer Style. 2 Comments

The Lancome L.U.C.I. collection for spring 2008 is inspired by beach sands and luminescent pearls against deep suntanned skin. Lancome has introduced new “photonic” shades of lipstick and gloss to layer over colors to transform looks. On fair skin the “photonic” shades add a pearlescent effect and on dark skin “photonics” deepen the look.

I love the gold and pearl eyeshadows in the Ray of Apricot Light duo because you can really tailor the two shades to get the look you like. I like to sweep the golden apricot shade across the lid for a wash of color then use the pearlescent shade to highlight the brow bone and inner corners of the eyes.

The featured Color Fever Shine lipstick in Desert Pink suits most skintones and the “photonic” shade Luminous can be layered on top for a stunning effect. Also new in this collection are three Ombres Glacee Cooling Gel Illuminator shades for eyes and face as well as the Photonic Illuminating Powder Face Brush that can also be swept across the decollate.

Reader Poll: How Much Makeup?

March 22, 2008 / Filed under Beauty Tips, Polls. 21 Comments

How much makeup do you wear on an everyday basis?

I’m in the office Monday thru Friday, and I wear a full face for most of the week. This includes concealer/foundation, an eyeshadow duo (Clinique duos are my fave) with eyeliner and mascara, blush, and lip gloss.
