Is your boyfriend or guy friend beauty savvy? Does he have his own arsenal of hair and skin care or have you caught him dabbling in your stash?
When I was a Beauty Advisor for Lancome years ago, I would invite my guy friend Trent in to demonstrate to my BA friends how to do “makeovers” on guys with skincare products. Women aren’t the only ones that need to take care of their hair and skin. Men are learning that there are products out there tailored for them that can repair their own hair and skin woes. Such products include Origins Save The Males daily moisturizer and Clinique Skin Supplies For Men. These lines know that marketing is key to get men to buy these products, whether by all-black packaging or “manly” product names. Just know that guys can use “our” stuff too… the ingredients are pretty much the same!
Check out my guy’s metrosexual blog. He finally did it!

In less than 24 hours yours truly will be on a flight out to sunny LA for Total Beauty’s Blogger Summit! Some of my fave beauty bloggers will be attending including Yummy 411 and Spoiled Pretty. There we’ll be prepped and primed on how to become even better, more successful beauty editors and get to rub elbows with some of the industry’s most fabulous beauty brands. I’ll aim to blog from my BlackBerry or laptop while at the Summit and take lots of pics!
In the hours leading up to my flight, this is how I’m prepping and priming my skin and body for smooth landing…
How To Look Good While Flying
Drink lots (and lots) of water. I’ve been sipping on Figi all night and know it will help my skin stay freshly hydrated while in the air.
Apply (and reapply) a light moisturizer to your face. An alternative to this is a moisturizing face mist such as by Evian. Yes, Evian makes a can of water mist that is a lovely pick-me-up for the skin.
Avoid dehydrating substances such as salty foods, soda, and alcohol. Water retention will make your face look puffy and your hands/feet swell. Unsalted nuts and the like will be a delight to snack on while on the plane!
Skip out on heavy makeup. Wear tinted moisturizer and lip gloss. This is perfect minimal makeup.
Get some sleep. I will take a melatonin caplet before stepping on the plane and have reading material (Allure, Money magazine, The Bible — NOT Cosmo) to keep me occupied until I snooze off!
What are some of your jet set beauty tips? What about while on cruises?

I treat myself to one or two “gourmet” Starbucks coffees a week. If I’m going to spend $4-$5 on a latte, it needs to be specially made to suit my diet and taste buds for a truly worthy treat!
With no respect to “Starbucks semantics” (baristas, feel free to correct my request!), this is what I usually order:
a double tall sugarfree skinny cinnamon dulce latte *no whip*
What does all this mean?
- Double tall - Order an extra shot of caffeine for a jolt of energy, tension muscle ache relieve (long days at the office!), and to quicken your metabolism. I order the tall-sized latte to cut calories and coins spent.
- Sugarfree - Says, “No refined sugar, please!” If your latte tastes bland per this request, add Splenda or cane sugar to taste.
- Skinny - Says, “Nonfat milk, please!” Alternatively you could order a soy latte for added protein and lactose-free energy.
- No whip - Hold the whipped cream. I don’t want or need the added sugar!
My guy friend calls this a complicated order. I tease him by telling him he’s trying to make a statement with all his “simplicity.” For good measure, I tip the baristas a dollar or two for their time.
