FOTW: Cool Pink Lips and Cheeks, Gold Eyelights

Staying true to the cool (blue-toned) pink trend of the season, this week my makeup look consists of MAC Beauty Powder Blush in Feeling and NARS Lip Gloss in Female Trouble.  On the eyes I’m doing simple shadows — a shimmery beige to highlight and a matte brown to contour — and gold “eyelights” on the inner corners of my eyes with Revlon High Dimension metallic eyeliner in Gold Flash. On the lash line is my staple black liquid liner (Wet ‘n Wild MegaLiner) and on the bottom waterline/lash line is Clarins waterproof eyeliner in black. This month is all about *pink* for me… I love being festive for the holidays.

Can You Lose Weight by Binge Eating?

So, I have this bad habit of weighing myself about three times a week. I say that it’s a bad habit because it can be a real buzzkill if you’re attempting to shed a few pounds yet the number on the scale doesn’t budge. I’m currently trying to lose about 5-7 pounds and my current regimen consists of protein, tea, diet soda, and B-complex. I eat once or twice a day because I maintain a very sedentary lifestyle and can survive on just that. Consequently, my weight stays a steady 132lbs (I’m not ashamed to share!) throughout the week.

My best bud James, who happens to be a fitness buff, once advised me that you can actually lose weight by eating a deliciously greasy, carb-y meal every once in a while. I put it to the test over the weekend when we met up at Steak & Shake for a late night breakfast. The Sourdough Breakfast combo was the greasiest thing I’d eaten in a while — so much so that I was still feeling it the next day. It wasn’t a comfortable feeling! Nonetheless, midday the day after our carbfest I stepped on the scale and had actually lost 1.5 pounds. Whether or not that was conclusive of James’ theory, it worked! I couldn’t believe it. Fall 2009 Beauty Preview: NARS at Thakoon #NYFW Show

I feel like I should explain the fact that I’m doing Fall 2009 beauty forecasts seeing as I’m so stoked about Spring 2009 and shouldn’t be blogging about anything else. But, New York Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter 2009 is going on *right now* (I wish I were there!) and it would be unkosher for me not to forecast trends from some of our favorite cosmetic lines!

NARS Backstage Beauty at Thakoon Fashion Show for Fall 2009

NARS Lead Makeup Artist Diane Kendal wanted to create a strong smoky eye look “without being too girly”. To bring strength to the face, Diane focused on strong brows and smoky eyes while downplaying the lips. “The look is all about the eyes with soft matte lips for contrast,” said Diane. The skin was kept fresh with a light dusting of blush to give the cheeks a warm glow.
