Aveda Light Elements Review (by Maria)
So, I just tried out Aveda Light Elements Texturizing Crème and Shaping Wax for the first time and pretty much one word sums up my reaction to the results: love. I have always struggled with keeping the hairstyles I create looking fresh and in place all day without shellacking on the hairspray. And let’s be honest, no one thinks a helmet head is sexy. Both of these products do the trick without weighing hair down and keep your style looking effortless.

Today I placed my hair in rollers to create some soft curls. After they set, I ran my fingers through each curl with the Shaping Wax. I don’t recommend using this product on curls because of how strong the formula is unless you really want them to stay put. It made my hair feel sticky and clumped together (oops!). Instead, use the wax when you want to create a lot of piece-y texture and volume in your hair, tame fly-aways and bangs, or need a strong hold.
I retried setting my curls with the texturizing crème, and it was magic. The crème really added shine, moisturized my hair, and had a nice soft hold that looked great with waves. I can see using this product everyday just to add a little gloss and enough hold to keep things stylish with just my natural texture. It really is weightless, and you only need a little product to go a long way.
I definitely recommend these products, not only because of their amazing performance, but also because of their natural ingredients. Both use organic beeswax, jojoba, pullulan, and soy emulsifiers. You can really tell the quality of the ingredients from the fresh, citrus/spice smell of the product (my husband told me to tell everyone he loves the way it smells, so there’s a plus!). Aveda really works hard to place eco-friendly ingredients in their products and in their packaging, and to leave as small of a carbon footprint as possible. I love being able to look good and be earth conscious at the same time! At $24 a container, it’s definitely worth the cost. Enjoy!
