Everyday Eyeshadow

beauty_d.gif I’ve created examples of everyday makeup looks that are designed to compliment both eye color and skintone, and with one or two additional colors can be carried on into night. These are very basic, so be creative! The great thing about these individual color combos is that they can be easily found in eyeshadow duos or quads (quick money saver). I whipped up these examples in Adobe Photoshop, so the depictions aren’t perfect. Blend well, play around, and have fun with it.

Fair Skin

Blue Eyes

Fair skinned, blue eyed gals look great with rosy toned cheeks and lips during the day and night. If you’re tan, a pinkish gold bronzer looks fabulous. For the eyes, golds and beiges tend to make blue eyes POP. Ever notice that your blue eyes look stunning when you’re wearing earth tones? Same concept.

Day Night
eye: sheer shimmery gold
browbone: shimmery white
eyeliner: brown or bronze
eye: powder blue
browbone: sheer shimmery gold
lid: brown
eyeliner: brown or blue black

For day: Sweep a sheer shimmery gold color across the lid, blending up near the browbone. Then, use your ring finger to pat a shimmery white into the browbone, just below your eyebrows, concentrating mostly underneath your brow arch. Trace around your eyes a thin line of brown or bronze liner, and smudge just a bit. Add your favorite mascara.

For night: Switch it up and sweep a powder blue across the lid with a sheer shimmery gold on the browbone. Apply a brown shadow to your lid, starting at your lash line and blending up to the crease. If you have blonde or red hair, use a brown kohl eyeliner and smudge for a slightly smoky effect. If you have brown to black hair, you could opt for a blue black kohl liner.

The key to applying color to your eyes is to start out less and add more; its easier to add more product than it is to take off what you’ve overdone. Blend well and be creative to find what suits you best.

Brown Eyes

Fair skinned, brown eyed gals look great with rosy plum cheeks during the day and night. If you’re tan, a golden bronzer looks fabulous. For the eyes, blues really make darker eye colors stand out. Some girls are afraid to experiment with blue eyeshadow, but done right, it can look amazing. Try it out!

Day Night
eye: powder blue
browbone: sheer shimmery gold
eyeliner: brown or navy blue
eye: powder blue
browbone: sheer shimmery beige
lid:dark blue
crease: dark brown
eyeliner: dark brown or blue black

For day:
Sweep a powder blue color across the lid, blending up near the browbone. Then, use your ring finger to pat a sheer shimmery beige color into the browbone, just below your eyebrows, concentrating mostly underneath your brow arch. The beige provides a perfect balance for blue shadow. Trace around your eyes a thin line of brown or navy blue eyeliner, and smudge just a bit. Add your favorite mascara.

For night: Transition into night adding a dark blue shadow to your lid, starting at your lash line and blending up to the crease. Apply a dark brown to the crease on the outer eye and blend well. If you have blonde hair, use a brown kohl eyeliner and smudge for a slightly smoky effect. If you have brown to black hair, you could opt for a blue black or black kohl liner.

The key to applying color to your eyes is to start out less and add more; its easier to add more product than it is to take off what you’ve overdone. Blend well and be creative to find what suits you best.

Green Eyes

Fair skinned, green eyed gals look great with coral toned cheeks during the day and night. If you’re tan, a reddish bronzer looks fabulous. For the eyes, neutral earth tones let green orbs take the spotlight. Lovely!

For night: Transition into night by adding a darker brown to the crease on the outer eye and blend well. Use a dark brown kohl eyeliner and smudge for a slightly smoky effect.

Darker Skin

What I love about applying eyeshadow colors to myself or a darker skinned client is that there are more options for going dramatic without looking clownlike. A lot of darker skinned girls shy away from experimenting with makeup, but there are so many stunning options that work that I would suggest trying. Be daring!

Brown Eyes: Olives

I adore olives and greens against dark eyes and skin.

Day Night

For night: Transition into night by adding a brown black or black to the crease on the outer eye and blend well. Use a brown black or black kohl eyeliner and smudge for a slightly smoky effect.

The key to applying color to your eyes is to start out less and add more; its easier to add more product than it is to take off what you’ve overdone. Blend well and be creative to find what suits you best.

Brown Eyes: Plums

Plums can look simply stunning against dark skin.

The key to applying color to your eyes is to start out less and add more; its easier to add more product than it is to take off what you’ve overdone. Blend well and be creative to find what suits you best.
