Best Of: Drugstore Makeup
Follow me while I dabble in the lines of some of my favorite drugstore makeup staples. This is Marsadie’s take on the Best of the Best of drugstore beauty! Find what you like, discard the rest.
Mascara
|
Although Maybelline is most known for that other cult fave mascara (the pink & green), Maybelline Lash Discovery mascara is my personal favorite. The skinny wand is svelte enough to coat the teeniest of my naturally sparse lashes. After a few coats of this mascara, my lashes are long and pretty. Comes in a waterproof version for those emo occasions. |

Eyeliner

Wet ‘N Wild is known to be drugstores’ most affordable line. Do we have to sacrifice quality for affordability in this case? Not when it come to Wet ‘N Wild MegaLiners! These liquid liners equipped with a brush applicator go on smooth and precise and last for hours. I’m still amazed to find that my favorite black MegaLiner outlasts many pricier versions. At $2 a pop, you could buy all the colors without denting your wallet. |

Foundation

I don’t think I’ve ever stopped raving about Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation. It’s a nice break from traditional liquid or powder foundations and definitely less messy (no makeup bag spills, thank goodness)! For the best coverage, I’ve found that applying this and other mousse foundations with a large blush brush in swirls around the face produces a lovely finish. Not too thick and covers perfectly. Apply loose powder all over and you’re set for a beautifully matte yet silky complexion. |

Blush
|
Covergirl Cheekers Blush has a potent, satiny consistency and comes in a wide array of colors. My fave is a deep raspberry plum, perfect for the fall and winter seasons. I swirl my blush brush around in the color, tap on the back of my hand, and apply across my cheeks, starting at the apples and blending back toward my ears. |

Eyeshadow
|
When it comes to color payoff and staying power, L’Oreal HIP Eyeshadow Duos seem to be creme de la creme of drugstore eyeshadow. The colors are striking yet wearable and the duos are expertly paired to take the guesswork out of choosing color combos for eye looks. If you love the spunk of MAC but don’t want to shell out the dough, these L’Oreal shadows are a great substitute. |

Lip Gloss
|
If you want high end quality lip gloss on a drugstore budget, I’m convinced that Revlon Super Lustrous is a prime pick. I’m particular about consistencies of glosses, and this one is impressive. The applicator is sponge-tipped which makes for a glossier, pouty lip. The coverage isn’t too thick and even moisturizes a bit. The color selection is amazing and makes it hard to pick up only one. My current favorite is Shine That Pink, a sheer, sparkling hot pink shade. |
