2008 was probably a record year for me for trying new beauty products, both high-end and low-end, so it would be a shame for me not to share my favorites! Here goes

Drugstore: L’Oreal Skin Genesis Serum ($25) – Skin Genesis Serum smooths skin and improves skin texture overall with anti-aging reinforcement. (full review)
High-End: Origins A Perfect World White Tea Skin Guardian ($50) – This serum makes my face look and feel amazing while totally brightening my complexion. (full review)
Drugstore: Maybelline Mineral Power Foundation (liquid) ($8) – This is the only drugstore foundation that I currently use! For being liquid, this formula does not clog my pores, even with oily skin. Pro makeup artists agree — this is a high end formula at a drugstore price. (full review)
High-End: MAC Studio Stick Foundation ($29) – MAC Studio Stick gives a smooth, even finish with medium coverage and a semi-matte look. Blends into skin seamlessly using a sponge, a kabuki brush, a foundation brush, or even your fingers.
Drugstore: Jane One Liners ($4) – Jane One Liners is a perfect eye-lining tool — no sharpening needed, no mess. (full review)
High-End: {me} by Mezhgan define {me} Eyeliner ($19) – dramatic {me} (black) is a long-lasting true black automatic eyeliner, complete with a smudger on the opposite end. It’s perfect for the bottom water line for those that like a sultry eyeliner look.
Drugstore: CoverGirl Lash Blast Mascara ($9) – Lash Blast is, in my opinion, the best drugstore mascara there is! The waterproof version debuted in 2008. Last Blast gives dramatic, sultry lashes at an affordable price and with a rubber wand. This mascara made other beauty blogger top lists for last year as well including Makeup Bag and Jolie Nadine. (full review)
High-End: Rilastil Volumizing Mascara ($28) – I tried this mascara on a whim, and though it was pricey, I’m glad I did! This is the best mascara I have used to date — exceeding even my Lancome and Lauder faves — and truly gives lashes a more voluminous look without clumping or dryness. I love it! (full review)
Drugstore: Rimmel Volume Booster Liquid ($7) – Rimmel Volume Booster lip gloss boasts fuller, plumper lips. For me, the *tingle* and mega-shine factor is enough to make it on my top list for the year. (full review)
High-End: Philosophy Mimosa Lip Shine ($12) – Gives a sparkling, luxe lip look with maximum shine and a yummy citrus taste! Best worn alone or dabbed over another lip color. (full review)
Drugstore: TREsemme ($4-$6) – TREsemme hair products contain conditioning formulas that are generally not too drying for coarser hair types.
High-End: Aveda ($10-27) – Aveda hair care contains all-natural botanical ingredients and has a product to pamper any hair type. My personal favorite is the Dry Remedy kit ($74) — perfect for dry, thirsty hair.
I am definitely going to invest in Mineral Power foundation. I’ve been debating buying a liquid foundation for a bit more coverage, as without sunlight I break out more and have more redness in the winter months.
LOVE Jane. Used to swear by those no-sharpening liners. Fave sharpening is NYC although I have a 99 cent Jordana pencil now that’s great as well.
Love that Rimmel, but that Mimosa sounds great. I need a gloss that tastes good!
Great post – great idea!
I definitely agree with tresemme. I now use that shampoo all the time because my hair is pretty damaged but it brings it back to life!
I am not a fan of MAC foundation. I think that there are better formulations out there, however Maybeline’s Mineral Makeup is great for the price!
Amen to the Lash-Blast, I think its the applicator that’s so amazing but I absolutely love it!!! Aveda is hands down the best hair care, even for black hair. And we won’t even get started on M.A.C especially the studio collection.
