Alternative Hair Removal Solutions
Throughout history men, and women in particular, have gone to great lengths to control their body hair. For women it has proved to be a time consuming and constant preoccupation. The 21st century has finally rolled round for womankind and today there are a whole range of hair removal solutions. Some are traditional and some are space age creations. Finding the right solution can depend on both your budget and your skin type.

Old and New Hair Removal Treatments
· Shaving is one of the oldest methods to remove unwanted hair; although pumice stones were used in ancient civilisations this soon fell out of fashion. Shaving can be completed with either an electric shaver or a good old fashioned razor. Modern electrical shavers offer a close shave, although the closest shave is often achieved with a razor. Relatively cheap, although care needs to be taken to avoid cuts and scrapes and additional body creams are required to soothe irritated skin.
· Waxing has also been around for many years. Depending on your pain threshold it can be extremely unpleasant. By ripping hairs out by the root, waxing achieves a longer lasting effect than shaving. Relatively affordable, waxing can be an ideal, longer term solution for small problem areas. The cost and pain involved with waxing makes it a less attractive solution for larger or more sensitive parts of the body.
· Depilatory creams have also been with us for many years. In the eighteenth century these were created using toxic ingredients designed to melt away hair, skin and bone if necessary. Modern recipes are much safer but depilatory creams do operate on the same principles. Care needs to be taken when applying the cream and it should be removed as quickly as possible to avoid irritation or burns to the skin. Rarely suitable for those with sensitive skin or existing skin conditions.
· Plucking is a laborious task that has also been with us for many centuries. For larger areas of hair it can feel like it takes centuries, but it is a relatively simple solution for facial areas, particularly those eyebrows. Creams, shaving and waxing are not always suitable here and plucking can be the perfect solution. It is not a permanent hair removal solution but it will last for some time.
· Electrolysis is a permanent hair removal solution, suitable for any skin and hair types. By passing an electrical current through the hair follicle during its growth stage, hair is permanently destroyed and should not grow back. Each hair must be treated individually, which means that electrolysis can be time consuming and costly. Again, for small areas of unwanted hair, particularly on the face, it is a great solution.
· Laser hair removal treatment has rapidly developed in the last twenty years. This solution is generally only suitable for those with darker hair and lighter skin, but it is a permanent hair removal solution. Taking less time and therefore considered less costly, laser hair removal can be a perfect solution for many women. Home laser devices have recently entered the hair removal fray and are proving extremely popular with many women. One model offered by Tria Beauty is affordably priced and should suit most budgets. Tria laser reviews have been positive in terms of both effectiveness and price.

Permanent hair removal has been something of a holy grail for women across the centuries. Many have died in the pursuit of this goal, but today laser treatments have finally made it a real possibility.
