Skincare: Best Skin Brightening Solutions

April 16th, 2008 // Beauty, Beauty Reviews, Skincare

I admit to being obsessed with purchasing brightening and clarifying skin care products. At worst, my complexion is dull with random discolorations from prior zits (my skin scars easily). Therefore, I’ve shopped the market for all sorts of skincare products that promise to brighten, soften, and clarify your skin. These are the best that I’ve found! Yes, I have used all of these and am here to report to you only the best:

Kim Kardashian Makeup Tips & Tricks

April 14th, 2008 // Celeb Looks, Makeup Looks

Kim Kardashian makeup. Get makeup like Kim Kardashian. Celebrity beauty tips and tricks. When I’m eying any celeb, it’s not because I envy their celebrity lifestyle or necessarily advocate any of the choices they make. I’m usually dying to know who styled their ‘brows, what that gorgeous shade of eyeshadow was they were wearing (like Alicia Keys on the Tyra Show – wow!), or how they achieved such glowing skin. And, Kim Kardashian is no exception to my celeb beauty curiousity. She’s gorgeous!

Thankfully Kim and I both have a fetish for blogging beauty tips – this week at least – because lucky for the gals that love her look, Kim shared her choice beauty products on her blog!

How To Get Kim Kardashian’s Make-Up Look:

In My Bag: MAC Beauty Powder Blush

April 14th, 2008 // Beauty Reviews, Blush

MAC Beauty Powder Blush in Feeling is a dirty plum with subtle sheen and excellent color feedback. How to apply blush: Swipe across cheeks with a blush blush or angled cheek brush and apply as many layers as desired. Let’s cancel my spiel on how I don’t shop MAC very often. I believe I will start from now on. It’s high-end affordable and I love the collections they’ve been coming out with lately. When I can spend only $50 on three fabulous department store beauty items I am sold! I’m normally dropping $40 on Lancome foundation alone…

Why I really love MAC right now is their gem of a perfectly pigmented blush: MAC Beauty Powder Blush In Feeling. I love it! Most warmer pink/plum blushes look great against my skintone but have a little too much shimmer and are often too sheer. MAC Beauty Powder Blush goes on exactly as you see it in the pan, no guessing games! It has a subtle sheen and provides excellent color payoff. When I swiped this silky blush across my cheek at the MAC counter I was immediately smitten. The two great reviews I read about Beauty Powder Blush on Blogdorf Goodman and Temptalia helped as well.

If you’re looking for a silky, high-pigmented blush go and pick up MAC Beauty Powder Blush today!

Lancome Resurface-C Microdermabrasion Review

April 10th, 2008 // Beauty Reviews, Skincare

Lancome Resurface-C Microdermabrasion Review When your ordinary face scrub just isn’t doing the trick and you want to splurge on a relatively inexpensive luxurious skin treatment… at-home Lancome Resurface-C Microdermabrasion Kit
icon is the solution! This kit that comes with sphere-shaped microbeads (as opposed to the jagged granules in cheaper scrubs) and a vial of pure Vitamin C serum will set you back only $88. It’s well worth it. Using this three times a week in the shower, my skin is glowing, baby smooth and minor skin discolorations are sloughed away. I apply it with my fingers, massage gently around my face, then rinse. I also admit to buffing my legs with Resurface-C prior to shaving for ultra-smooth limbs. The Vitamin C serum for use after exfoliation feels decadent, although the rich, creamy texture may turn off those with oilier skin.

Go on, scrub my imperfections away!

Spring/Summer Style: Bright Pink Lips

April 9th, 2008 // Seasonal Makeup Trends

Be bold this spring by rocking bright fuchsia pink lips to go with matching nails and accessories! Rihanna wears a blue-toned pink lippie, perfect for her tawny skintone. Kate Bosworth’s bright pink lip has been softened by blotting on with the ring finger over lip balm.

Pulling Off Bright Pink Lips With Lipstick

Dab on a creamy fuchsia pink lipstick with fingers for a soft look or apply with a lip brush for precision application. To prevent color from bleeding, outline lips with a matching lipliner. For super staying power, apply a long-lasting lip color such as Estee Lauder Double Wear Lip Stain in Cherry, then liven it up with an accompanying clear gloss.

In My Bag: Estee Lauder Pure Color UltraLight Gloss

April 8th, 2008 // Beauty Reviews, Lip Gloss

Estee Lauder Pure Gloss Pink Chrome buy it now Estee Lauder Pure Color UltraLight Gloss is a super-glossy, non-sticky fluid lip gloss that has to be the softest that’s ever graced my lips. Seriously, this stuff goes on so smooth! Feels like silk. These come in a wide range of shades that can be worn alone or over other glosses or lipsticks. I love layering this gloss. I like UltraLight Gloss in Pink Light, which is a baby pink shade you would think would look horrendous against my skintone. But, on the contrary – especially when mixed with another sheer gloss such as Victoria’s Secret Sweet Talk in Posh Pink (a very sheer, glossy peach) – Estee Lauder Pink Light UltraLight Gloss looks lusciously pink against my skin. It gives that perfect wet look!

In My Bag: Jane “One Liners” Self-Sharpening Eye Liner

March 25th, 2008 // Beauty Reviews, Eyeliner

My beauty bag staple, must-have, whathaveyou is definitely black eyeliner. I feel so naked without it! It truly picks up my face and completes all of my makeup looks. I’m often told that I look “tired” without it. Today would be one of those naked days since I’ve used up my new drugstore fave eyeliner Jane One Liners Self-Sharpening Eyeliner. I used Jane One Liners in Blackline in this video. My favorite thing about this liner is that, not only is it only $4 (drugstore steep, maybe, but cheap compared to my usual high-end makeup buys), but the twist-up “self-sharpening” kohl is perfect for quick and easy application. You never have to sharpen this baby! The only con is that if you use eyeliner as much as I do, Jane One Liners will only last for about a month.

All in all, I give Jane One Liners a thumbs up and will purchase again!
