Korres Silicone-Free Face Primer has been my go-to primer/moisturizer for the past couple months. I’ve been using it religiously since my Vegas vacation. They are cleverly named after “beautiful” US cities, including Miami, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Hollywood (my personal favorite lash strips were Nashville – plush yet natural-looking). They are a perfect accessory to any makeup look and give license to skip mascara – this I love! My natural lashes can take a break from wear and tear but I can still bat “my lashes” glamourously on a night out. The lash strips are thin, so they rest upon your own lashes looking quite natural. ko Denmark Jasmine Neroli Body Products

The best thing about starting my day lately, next to my morning cup of coffee, is ko denmark Organic Jasmine Neroli Body Wash and Body Lotion. Vertical Cologne for Men

Lastly, I’ve had quite a fetish lately with wearing men’s fragrance. This bottle is my boyfriend’s Vertical Cologne by Victoria’s Secret, which contains notes of lavender and amber with more manly notes of suede and bergamot. Some seasons I’m repulsed by too-sweet fragrances and need something deeper (but with “girly” notes to balance it out). I love that modern men’s fragrances have become softer and crisper than of the past, and coincidentally work on my own skin. Try a man’s fragrance on yourself sometime and you may just fall in love. I guarantee armpits are something most women do think about. Deodorants/anti-perspirants leave a waxy buildup that worsens underarm bumps and makes shaving difficult. This deodorant residue also contains metals that can yellow your clothing.

I found Clarsskin Underarm Cleanser to be better than any soap or cream for getting a smooth shave. A quick foam removes residue (including metal salts left by deodorants) from under arms, and it feels more like a great face wash than body soap. The cleanser retails at $22, but one 4oz bottle can last up to a year.

As silly as it sounds, there is something about using an underarm cleanser that makes you feel really spoiled and pampered. Using it in the shower before bed feels great and removes the sticky deodorant clogging your pores. While it is recommended that you continue use of your normal deodorant while using this product, I’ve found that while using Clarsskin, I can get away with less, or even no deodorant, depending on what I’m up to.

“One Hand Helps the Other” Intensive Hand Cream ($7.99) by ecoTools contains jojoba oil for moisturization and has a light, fresh scent. The scent in particular of Maris Naturals Skin Care products — Bali Vanilla — is one I’d consider “unisex.” I say this because when I first slathered on the body crème expecting a very feminine vanilla scent, the smell was much more earthy. This makes sense looking at the list of ingredients, which includes spicy clove and sandalwood. The formula, containing shea butter and orange wax, is richly moisturizing which is a selling point for me. But the smell wasn’t something I’m used to. One following evening Boyfriend comes walking out of his bathroom, damp hair, rubbing some stuff on his elbows and smelling curiously of something I’d used before. It was definitely that Maris Bali Vanilla scent. After admitting that he couldn’t resist trying out the “new stuff” he saw in the shower, Boyfriend also admitted how much he actually liked it. That his skin felt clean, smelled good (“This isn’t too girly…”), and didn’t feel irritated as it sometimes did post-shower.

The first product to intrigue me was the Chai Soy Mask ($14/2.5oz) for oily skin. There is something quintessentially feminine and sexy about using any green mud mask, but the Chai Soy mask went far above the rest. Recommended for use once a week, even my husband has been using this product! The mud mask, “designed to pull toxins from the skin while replenishing vital nutrients and minerals”, leaves skin feeling clean and tight. It smells like Christmas on your face, and my favorite part is how easily it washes off. Unlike drugstore mud masks that require half an hour of scrubbing to remove, the Chai Soy mask washes clean with a few splashes of water.

Epicuren Hydrating Mineral Mask ($14/2.5oz) for all skin types is safe to use every day, and uses trace elements Zinc, Copper, and Magnesium to replenish skin and help produce collagen. I found this mask very refreshing, and it didn’t cause me to break out, even when I was lazy and removed it using just baby wipes. I like to use this mask immediately following my normal face wash just after plucking my eyebrows to soothe redness. With both of these face masks, a little bit goes a long way, making it a great buy.

The Cinnamon Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub ($45/16oz) was the Epicuren product I was most excited to use. It smells decidedly edible and tantalizing and, when used in the shower, leaves skin silky and fragrant all day (or night) long. You can use it after shaving for sting-free smoothness, but honestly, the 16-ounce container is a bit pricey for everyday use. I found this stuff so hard to use sparingly that I would save it for special occasions – It’s perfect for first dates, and sure to make you irresistible to any man.

Looking over the Epicuren Discovery website, I found heaps more products I’d like to try. Whether shopping for yourself or stocking stuffers, their sweet-smelling and effective beauty treats are sure to lift your spirits this winter season.

Skinn Cosmetics Sweet & Smooth Sugar and Shea Butter Body Polish fits both my criteria. It is the most perfectly blended sugar scrub I’ve ever used; actually, when I dipped my fingers into the jar to scoop out a bit of the product I was confused by how buttery the consistency was. “Where’s the scrub?” I wondered.

Also, I sometimes shower at night then again in the morning, so using a double-duty body wash for both cleansings can be a little stripping on the skin. This is especially true now that the weather is dry and chilly. I’ve found a little multi-tasking shower gem that is perfect for a gentle cleansing and moisturizes skin to boot. It easily eliminates the need to slather on body lotion before bundling up to head out into the cold – a plus for a rushed Monday morning.

It has a light, pretty lavender smell. Of course lavender is calming, so the scent of this cleansing oil won’t wake you up per se – that’s what coffee’s for. But, its rich moisturizing benefit may get you out the door a little quicker by eliminating the need to apply body lotion.
