I’m all about lip color right now. Mixing them, even.

May 6th, 2010 // Beauty Diary, Lip Gloss, Lipstick

I’m really trying to get into wearing lipstick. It’s not that I want to abandon lip gloss, but that I’m challenging myself to experiment with the difference in texture. In efforts to make L’Oreal Colour Riche lipstick in Puckered Up Pink work more to my liking, I decided to mix it with a gloss: NARS Orgasm.

The combination produced a peachy pink, high-shine lip look and the thicker lipstick/gloss texture made it stay put for hours.

Even though I love coming up with custom shades, I don’t know if I always want to go this route. I just want to find a lipstick to love.

Purple Lab Huge Lips Skinny Hips Gloss (a Giveaway!)

February 3rd, 2010 // Giveaways, Lip Gloss

What’s better than a luxuriously shiny, moisturizing lip gloss? How about one that also plumps your lips and suppresses your appetite during wear? Purple Lab Huge Lips Skinny Hips Lip Gloss does just that.

I’m so excited to have added this gloss to my collection just in time for the days leading up to Valentine’s Day. I ordered the gloss in No Panty Lines — it’s the clear shade from the collection that is perfect to wear alone or dab over any other lip color.

Can you believe that the ingredients that lend to the plumping and appetite suppressing benefits are all-natural? That’s right — Purple Lab formulated Huge Lips Skinny Hips gloss with B3 (a vitamin to simulate blood flow to the lips), hoodia (an appetite suppressant), and lemon peel oil (a metabolism booster). To boot, this gloss is paraben-free. There are just too many reasons to love.

Huge Lips Skinny Hips wears like silk on the lips, is not too sticky, and will never dry out your pout. This is perfect for a day or night out on the town. I know this gloss will keep me coming back for more when it runs out!

Because I’m part of Purple Lab’s Blogger Mafia this month, you have a chance to win a tube of Huge Lips Skinny Hips gloss in No Panty Lines (clear) as well! To enter, simply comment on this post detailing how you would wear this gloss. Feel free to be creative! The winner will be chosen at random and notified by email.

Leighten Meester’s Favorite Red Lip: L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Gloss in Plumped Red

November 22nd, 2009 // Lip Gloss, Makeup Looks

My red lip color of choice at the moment is Plumped Red from L’Oreal’s Infallible Plumping 6-Hr Plumping Lip Gloss collection. The color feedback is rich yet customizable: two coats gives you a sheerer red with shimmer and four coats imparts more of what Gossip Girl Leighton Meester’s pout looks like here:

leighton-meester-makeup

loreal-infallible-gloss-plumped-red It’s true — Leighton, too, loves Plumped Red. As stated in my original review of L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Gloss, the best thing is that Plumped Red will work with your natural undertone, thus leaving a perfect red tint on your own lips.

Infallible Gloss in Plumped Red is perfect if you want to purchase a new red but don’t want to spend hours perusing the makeup counters for one that will actually work with your skintone. The hours you save not doing that, you can add on to the expected wear-time of Infallible Gloss: the tint should remain for at least 2-3 hours, even after drinks or butterfly kisses.

Find L’Oreal Infallible Plumping 6-Hr Gloss at drugstores, drugstore.com, and at mass retailers.

L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Lip Gloss Review Plus Swatches

November 2nd, 2009 // Drugstore Makeup, Lip Gloss

Recalling the Infallible Plumping ad with Eva Longoria in my favorite September issues, I was thrilled to try the gloss when I received some in the mail for editorial consideration. L’Oreal Infallible Plumping Lipgloss is supposed to plump lips with the help of the special applicator and wear for six hours.

My Fave Glosses Right Now (Plus Pictures)

August 16th, 2009 // Beauty, Lip Gloss, Makeup

nars-stila-sephora-gloss Currently I’m into any gloss with a rosy- or peachy-gold tint or anything with gold flecks in it. The three lip glosses I’m wearing most lately are NARS Lip Gloss in Orgasm ($25), Stila 24kt Shimmer Gloss in Radiant Sunset ($22), and Sephora Brilliant Shine Lip Gloss in Rosy Glow ($10). You can actually find all three at your local Sephora, but I’ll warn you that the Stila gloss seems to be sold out like everywhere. Bummer! It’s one of my favorites and I have already used up like a quarter of it since getting my hands on it a couple weeks ago. (more…)

FOTD: Stila Indian Summer Look

August 7th, 2009 // Blush, Eyeliner, Lip Gloss, Makeup Looks

So, I haven’t quite acquired all items from Stila’s Indian Summer 2009 Collection, but I am in love with the items I do have. This includes Stila Lip & Cheek Stain in Mango Crush (which I wear on my cheeks and eyes alone or as a base shade for blush or shadow), 24kt Shimmer Gloss in Radiant Sunset, and Stila Smudge Pot for eyes in Golden Noir – all of which I am wearing today in the photo below.

fotd-stila-indian-summer

I have no qualms about any of the above items from the Stila Indian Summer collection. Mango Crush Lip & Cheek Stain blends so well, stays put, and looks natural against my skin. (…If I could blush a shade of peach, that is. Ha!) Stila’s Lip & Cheek Stains adjust to your personal pH levels to leave the perfect hue every time.  Radiant Sunset 24kt Shimmer Gloss wears so comfortably and has never dried my lips. It’s also really pretty with fine flecks of genuine 24kt gold. Golden Noir Smudge Pot for eyes is a smokey black shade with flecks of gold, which are barely detectable on but glimmers in sunlight. I’m wearing it on my bottom lash line, but not on the waterline since Stila advises against that. I apply the Smudge Pot with a small angled flat brush designed for applying cream eyeliner.

What do you think of this look? Too plain? Just right? And how much do you love Stila (if you’ve ever tried Stila Cosmetics)? I fall in love over and over again.

L’Oreal Color Presso Lip Gloss Review

loreal-color-presso-lip-gloss Anyone who is following me on Twitter may have peeped my rave about the new L’Oreal Color Presso Lip Gloss. They are, in a word, versatile. In each package there are two shades of lip gloss designed to complement each other fabulously once applied to your lips. True versatility lies in the fact that there are literally endless combinations of the two shades in each Color Presso gloss, depending on how much of each color you decide to apply to the lips.

The formula and staying power are nothing spectacular – you’ll need to apply about every hour to keep the color and gloss factor alive. Factor in another reapplication after you eat or after you kiss your boyfriend. However, I find the application of the Color Presso gloss to be easy… It is a squeeze tube with a pad which shape fits to the curve of your lips. Squeeze gently, apply, then spread across your lips. Also, the shades are fairly pigmented – though sheer – with a touch of fine shimmer for gloss factor. I own both Swanky (gold, pink) and Trendy (light pink, mauve).

At $13 a pop, L’Oreal Color Presso gloss is a drugstore hit.
