April 6th, 2009 // Beauty Reviews, Mineral Makeup

Just in time for summer, bareMinerals by Bare Escentuals mineral makeup is now available on Beauty.comicon! Why shop Beauty.comicon, you ask? Free shipping on orders of $25 or more, a fabulous return policy, and many of your favorite cosmetic brands available in one location are just a few reasons to bookmark this mega beauty website.

bareMinerals complexion kits

bareMinerals Get Started Complexion Kitsicon are available in Light, Fair, Medium, Deep, and Dark – they have a kit to match every complexion! As if mineral makeup wasn’t incredibly easy to blend, anyway. Not only that, but mineral makeup is optimal for combination to oily skin types especially, and is virtually breakout proof. Since trying out mineral makeup for the first time last summer, I have found no other makeup that feels so weightless on my skin. It’s feels as if I’m wearing no makeup at all.

Have you tried bareMinerals? What do you think about this mineral makeup line?

RAW Minerals Loose Powder Mineral Makeup

RAW Minerals makeup foundationWell into the mineral makeup craze, I am just now really playing around with the stuff. After purchasing Maybelline Mineral Powder liquid foundation and being generally satisfied with the results, I wanted to try mineral makeup in a powder form as most other fanatics are using it. Rummaging through a pile of makeup I’ve been meaning to try, I found a sample of RAW Minerals loose powder mineral makeup in just my shade. I was pretty eager to test it out.

RAW Minerals mineral makeup is now my favorite, favorite foundation! I make sure to prep my face with a good moisturizer and makeup base so that the formula goes on smooth and even, and use a kabuki brush to apply in swirling motions around my face. RAW Minerals is so lightweight, my skin can breathe in summer heat, yet the coverage is awesome, and I really think it makes me glow! I am such a fanatic about this stuff. I don’t think I’ll go back to regular, non-mineral makeup in a long, long time.

Lucky for you, you can try RAW Minerals free for 30 days. If and when you do, come back and let me know what you think!

Maybelline Mineral Power Foundation – Best of Drugstore!

Maybelline Mineral Powder Liquid Foundation Last time around I reviewed Maybelline Mineral Power Foundation in Loose Powder form. Except, I’d never tried it for myself, nor any other mineral makeup product to date. On a recent drugstore haul I picked up Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation to try. It was a whimsical decision and I really had no clue what to expect. Plus, how do they come up with “mineral powder liquid” anyway?

Either way, I adore this foundation! Since many of us are on a tight budget anymore with high gas prices – and for me, self-employment – we are looking for drugstore steals to temporarily replace some of our normal high-end makeup buys. This is a perfect drugstore foundation pick, especially if you want to experiment with mineral makeup. Maybelline Mineral Power Liquid Foundation goes on even and smooth with medium coverage – I use a dampened sponge to apply for a dewy look. You may want to set this foundation with its loose powder companion, but for the record, the formula lasted for hours on my combination/oily skin without looking shiny.

What is your favorite mineral makeup product?

Maybelline Mineral Powder Foundation

April 23rd, 2008 // Beauty Reviews, Foundation, Mineral Makeup

Yes, a drugstore makeup review!

I actually stumbled upon this product by incident. A coworker had forgotten her blush and asked to use mine. I was in such a fine mood that morning that I volunteered to finish her entire face! I began with my spiel, “You know, I was beauty counter gal at one time…” as I began swiping blush across her cheeks. When It was time to set her face, she broke out her new, drugstore mineral foundation: Maybelline Natural Perfecting Mineral Power Foundation. I admit to being a wee bit skeptical at first of its coverage. But as I set her cheeks and eyes with with this mineral foundation powder, her face looked perfectly put together.

This is good stuff, girls! And for less than $20, I call it a steal (and one worthy drugstore makeup buy at that).
