Fall 2008 Nail Color Trend: Eggplant Is the New Black
I’d been wearing the same shade of lilac nail polish for months, so I figured it’d be fun to switch it up for fall. After deciding that berry lips for fall 2008 would never work on me, I did decide to go with a really dark berry — make that, eggplant — nail color for fall. The shade is Cocoa Motion from Maybelline’s Colorama collection. Don’t let the name confuse you, either — it is clearly more purple than brown. Hence, a perfect shade of vampy eggplant nail polish for my dark skin, after three coats.

What are you wearing on your nails this season?
Frappelattes’ Favorite Fall 2008 Makeup Trends
It’s about that time when I’ve reluctantly accepted that fall is right around the corner and it is time to switch up my makeup bag. I am a follower of trends by nature, but I have to adapt them to my personal liking. For example, red and berry lips are hot for fall 2008, but so not hot on me! Here some fall 2008 makeup trends (according to Harper’s Bazaar) that I’m hot about:
- Fall 2008 Smoky Eyes
- Fall 2008 Nude Makeup
- Fall 2008 Cat Eyes
- My love for smoky eyes in fall (and all year ’round) will never die. I turn to Lancome Statuesque eyeshadow for a matte black-out effect and amp it up with a few coats of Lash Blast or Rilastil Volumizing mascara.
- I have an all or next-to-nothing approach to wearing makeup, so barely there nudes such as my tube of Revlon Shiny Sheers lip color in Sheer Honey Drizzle will reappear in my makeup bag next to my eyelash curler and RAW Natural Beauty Mineral Glow to highlight my skin.
- The cat eye is a makeup trend for fall 2008 as well as a classic and a personal favorite of mine. I wrote an article recently on how to do cat eye makeup using Lancome Artliner or Wet ‘n Wild liquid eyeliner.

Fall Fashion: Layers

Fall will go out with a fashionable bang as girls are trying to keep warm by piling on those layers! I’m seeing the same chic elements going into this carefree style:
- ‘Boyfriend’ button-ups, cardigans, and hoodies (long + loose)
- Scarves. All colors, all prints. Go wild.
- Skinny jeans and leggings
- Boots of all shapes, sizes, and textures
- Faux fur.
Time to go thrifting!
Fall Fashion: Victoria Beckham In a Blazer and Scarf
Victoria keeps it simple yet posh with bootcut denim pants and a white tank top layered under a grey blazer and long colorblock scarf. The blazer is a perfect piece of an autumn ensemble and the scarf adds a nice touch of color to this otherwise analogous color scheme. The large black bag and black peeptoe pumps perfectly wrap up this chic outfit, but with the weather getting cooler I would now opt for a pair of this season’s cutest boots.

Fall Fashion DO’s
Not much needs to be said, other than the fact that Sarah Jessica Parker owned all when she wore this gorgeous long boyfriend cardigan paired with grey stockings and shiny bag and booties.

I’m not a fan of namedropping high end designer names (when we can train ourselves to copy looks the frugal way!) but Fabsugar has the details about who she wore and where she wore it.
Either way, this outfit looks amazing. I am on a quest to add a few new cardigans to my wardrobe as well as those coveted grey stockings/leggings and fabulous boots or platforms to go with them!
SJP’s outfit: Yay or nay?
