Guilt-Free Snacking: Genisoy Soy Crisps

November 28, 2007 / Filed under Food Reviews. No Comments

There’s no reason not to snack when you’re trying to lose weight or stay fit. There are many ‘guilt-free’ snack options that are not only void of trans fats and refined sugars, but are actually good for you also.

Genisoy Soy Crisps are a perfect option to replace that unhealthy stash of potato chips. They are baked instead of fried and have a light, airy texture. It’s also hard to eat just a couple. This is fine, though, because each serving contains only 3 grams of unsaturated fat and 7 grams of soy protein! Not only does protein help to build muscle and burn fat, but soy protein has been shown to help prevent heart disease.

For once it’s healthy to say: Get snacking! My favorite Genisoy Soy Crisps flavor is Rich Cheddar Cheese, but there are more options including Zesty Barbecue and Creamy Ranch. These can be found in the snack isle of your favorite health food store.

Vitamin Energy…Gives You Wings!

This weekend has been ultra relaxing with sleeping in, taking walks, and baking muffins. My apartment has smelled quite fragrant for the past couple days, with Deep Chocolate and Banana Vitalicious muffin aromas stagnant in the air. My friend Shanna has me hooked on Vitalicious treats, as we can indulge in yummy goodness that is low in fat and sugars and high in vitamins. What more could you ask for? I buy the multipack muffin mix and get creative with the recipes.

As soon as Glaceau Vitamin Energy drink hit the shelves locally this weekend, I had to try it. Tropical Citrus tastes amazing and is chock full of B vitamins plus vitamin C, caffeine, and taurine. This is definitely my new favorite energy drink. It deserves a photo op.

Haiiiiiiiii <333 (Shanna would totally get that.)

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Green tea for health

July 23, 2007 / Filed under Food Reviews. 5 Comments

We all know that green tea has excellent health benefits. These include – but are not limited to – antioxidant benefits, stimulating the metabolism, increasing energy levels, improving brain function, and even easing hangovers. But if you’re like me, you happen to despise the taste of plain hot (or cold) herbal green tea.

glaceau-rescue.jpgIntroducing newer, better tasting green tea beverages. Wandering through my local health food market, I came across two suitable alternatives to those bitter-tasting tea steaz.jpgbags. Glaceau has formulated a Vitamin Water that contains green tea extract, and is infused with many other vitamins and minerals (hence the name). The taste is clearly green tea, but is sweetened by crystalline fructose syrup, which creates a much more pleasant flavor. Secondly, Steaz has what they call a Green Tea Ginger Ale soda. Sounds weird, but tastes exactly as described - green tea, ginger ale, and that cool zing of soda bubbles. Omitting high fructose corn syrup (a very unhealthy sweetener) but sweetened by natural cane sugar instead, this is a healthy choice for your green tea cravings.
