Summer Fashion Trend: Animal Instincts

Wednesday, June 17th, 2009 | Fashion, Spring/Summer Style | 2 Comments

Every girl should have at least one element of animal print in her wardrobe, if not many! Animal prints are fun and hip and just by adding a zebra print cuff, some cheetah print platforms, or a faux fur jacket to your outfit immediately gives rawr factor to any look!

Summer Shoe Trend: Studded Sandals

Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 | Fashion, Spring/Summer Style | 2 Comments

What’s more fierce than studded up platform (or flat!) sandals in black, tan, or even white? Bebe has the studded “Brenda” sandal in white with animal print heels which are just tres sexy. However, the studded sandals featured in this post are practical enough to dress up a fitted tank and skinny jeans for day or a fitted jersey dress for the nightlife.

Spring 2009 Makeup Trend: Smoky Plum Eyeshadow

Mmm, smoky eyes. My favorite look! Except it will be fun to ditch black in favor of colorful smoky shades, such as sooty plums. MAC Eyeshadow in Contrast is perfect - it’s a dark, dark matte blue-purple shade which makes it perfect for smoky eyes.

For this look I also used: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Smog, Lancome Blush Subtil in Shimmer Coral Sunset, Chanel Sheer Brilliance as a highlighter, and Lancome Juicy Tubes gloss in Simmer.

Maybelline Lash Stiletto Mascara for Sky High Lashes

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009 | Mascara, Product Reviews, Spring Forward | 2 Comments

For those of us that crave lash length over volume, Maybelline Lash Stiletto mascara will give you just that — and lots of it. Coat after coat of Lash Stiletto builds more length to your lashes and there is no clumping. Lash Stiletto mascara seems to coat every single lash evenly, probably due to the long, tapered brush with skinny bristles.

So, Maybelline Lash Stiletto does what it boasts and costs less than $10. I call it a steal. That, and take a look at how cool the tube is — it looks like the heel of my patent black pumps!

Spring 2009 Makeup Trend: Pear Green Eyeshadow

For Spring 2009, sheer washes of eye color were seen on the runway. You could totally get away with using just a pear green eyeshadow with nothing else, especially if you have fair skin. Personally, I like to add depth with any color, so I ended up applying a dark matte brown in the crease and a shimmery tan eyeshadow on my browbones and on the inner corners before doing the wash of pear green. I used the top color from Wet ‘n Wild’s Amazon Greens eyeshadow palette (using saline solution for better color feedback). I also added half lash strips on the bottom.

I love this look for Spring :) What do you think?

Flower Power: Floral Rings for Spring 2009

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009 | Fashion, Spring Forward, Spring/Summer Style | 3 Comments

Flower petal rings are perfect statements to add color and flair to a simple outfit, such as this summer’s distressed skinny jeans and a tee or an everyday dress. Find a flower petal ring in one of Spring 09’s hottest colors — hot pink, orange, or yellow –  and match it up to a pair of brightly colored heels. Instant glam factor! Gold tones are the next best thing and make a perfect date dress accessory.

Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations for Feeling Spring Clean

Monday, March 2nd, 2009 | Body Care, Product Reviews, Spring Forward | No Comments

Using products from Crabtree & Evelyn Aromatherapy Distillations line is a true sensory treat. The Aromatherapy Distillations line contains products to Relax, Revitalize, or Purify your body with 100% essential oils and natural ingredients for a holistic approach to skincare. Not only do the essential oils smell delicious, but the natural ingredients make you feel like you are treating your body to something pure and special.

The Purifying products from the line work wonders for making your body feel Spring clean and refreshed. While washing with Deep Cleansing Body Wash ($17.50), the crisp smell of eucalyptus and lime oils combined with steam from the shower seem to bring me wide awake. It’s a great morning boost! After lathering up and rinsing away, my skin feels cleaner than ever, as if I can feel my pores “breathing.” While my skin is still damp post-shower, I slather on the Refreshing Body Lotion ($19.50) which is so lightweight that it absorbs almost immediately into my skin.  This is a great body lotion for those of us that like just enough hydration without the greasy feel of a thick body cream.
