I’ve heard of the benefits of using dark roast coffee grounds to massage away the appearance of cellulite, exfoliate your skin, and even to gloss your hair (for the latter just brew as usual, wait til lukewarm, then apply to hair and cover with a plastic cap for 20 minutes before rinsing out). I’d never actually tried any of the aformentioned regimens myself until this morning.
Sadly, I’ve run out of my favorite facial scrub, but desperation makes us all more resourceful! After stealing a canister of coffee grounds from Boyfriend’s kitchen (thanks, Boyfriend!) I mixed half a teaspoon of grounds with a nickel-sized amount of my normal facial cleanser and scrubbed gently with my fingertips. After rinsing the concoction away my face just glowed and was so smooth to the touch! I think I’m going to be using coffee grounds to exfoliate my skin on a regular basis.
It is a known tidbit in the world of beauty that coffee grounds help to exfoliate away dead skin cells, minimize the look of pores, and give your skin a visible glow. Just be sure to follow up with your normal serum and/or moisturizer to restore moisture to your skin.
Have you ever personally tried this technique (or any other beauty regimen using coffee grounds)? Will you?
I frequently use olive oil and sugar from my kitchen to exfoliate (or just a handful of sugar mixed in with my normal face wash), but am yet to try coffee. I think I’ll try it on my hair at the same time so I can really experience smelling and feeling like a latte.
Coffee as an exfoliator feels fabulous all over – great post!
whoa coffee hair treatments? I neverrrrrr heard of that before. Thanks for the tip! I’m always doing some DIY rinse/mask on my hair.
I’ve never tried coffee in my beauty routine but, since I frequently use other items from the kitchen, I will definitely give it a try!
[...] Exfoliator: Usually Juara Face Scrub or coffee grounds. [...]
I exfoliate with used coffee grounds every night before bed. It does wonders for combination skin, especially during the winter when skin becomes flaky.
I use it after washing my face with my regular medicated face wash. As an added bonus, it removes any leftover makeup you may have missed.
