Fall Beauty: Matte Makeup

Thursday, August 9th, 2007 | Beauty Tips, Fall Trends, Product Reviews

As the fall and inevitable cooler weather approaches, it is natural to switch up our makeup routine. For warm weather, we were all about minimal makeup: cooler shades, and lightweight, dewy foundation (in darker shades to match our tan). When switching back to a lighter shade for the upcoming season, matte makeup will most likely be on the agenda. Dewy skin for warm weather; matte skin for the winter. Because I wanted to get away from liquid foundation, but didn’t want to go too powder-y (if you saw my makeup bag after I cracked my compact powder, you’d understand), I decided to try something with an in-between consistency.

Lancome Magique Matte makeup is a lightweight, mousse-y foundation that has a silky consistency but goes on matte. My skin is left with a perfect finish; the oil is gone without feeling or looking like a mask of makeup. And a little of this stuff goes a long way. For $37, the jar should last at least throughout the fall and winter seasons.

I was always interested in “mousse” foundations. Would you apply it with a foundation brush?

I love dream matte, it goes on so fabulously!

Carressa,

You could apply it with a foundation brush, sponge, or a blunt-edged contour brush (applied in swirls around the face).
