How to Get Rid of Blackheads

    January 13th, 2012 // Beauty

Have you ever looked in the mirror and spotted a load of blackheads? If so, you’ll know how unpleasant they can be. While there’s nothing worse than having a big white zit, blackheads can still ruin your complexion and are really quite embarrassing.

Many people splash out on Botox to improve their complexion but forget to keep up their own skincare routine. So, with this in mind here are five simple ways to get rid of blackheads:

    1. Wash your face regularly

If you want to reduce the risk of nasty black bumps appearing on your face, it’s important to wash at least twice a day. Regular cleansing will stop excess oils building up in your pores and will get rid of any blackheads that have started to form. Placing a hot flannel over your face will help open up the pores further and will draw out any impurities.

    2. Exfoliate

To achieve a glowing complexion it’s really important to exfoliate on a daily basis. Exfoliation will help remove any dead skin cells that might be blocking your pores and will leave you with a healthy complexion. Rubbing gentle abrasive into your body will also help your skin to become soft and will ensure you don’t push any harmful bacteria back into the open pore. If you have a bit of spare cash you could even check into a clinic for microdermabrasion, a non-surgical technique that works to polish the top layer of the skin.

    3. Don’t pick

Sometimes you might find that it’s difficult to remove a blackhead, however, it’s really important not to pick your face too much. Prodding and poking your skin can actually stimulate your oil glands and inflame any sensitive patches. While squeezing away in the mirror can be tempting, try to steam unwanted blemished out instead or use a gentle cleanser.

    4. Use the right products

Oily skin can be a big cause of blackheads and therefore it’s important to use the right beauty products. If you suffer from a dry or greasy complexion make sure you ask your doctor what creams you should use and avoid anything that might make your problems worse. Many people are allergic to fragranced scrubs and moisturisers, so be sure that your skincare regime is not aggravating your problems.

    5. Avoid excess makeup

Wearing too much makeup can clog your pores and cause ugly blackheads to form. Therefore it’s a good idea to cut down on the amount of foundation or blusher you put on your skin and wash it off before you go to bed. Many beauty products are designed for oily or sensitive skin, but it’s wise to clean your face regularly so it can breathe.

It’s never nice when you wake up to a face full of spots or blackheads, but there are things you can do to help the problem – good luck.
