Las Vegas Beauty Update
I know I’m late but here I am, reporting from sunny & warm Las Vegas, Nevada! Although I misplaced one bag of luggage with clothes, shoes, and makeup brushes that took me two days to recover, the plus side to that is that it’s taught me to be more resourceful with what I have. Namely, my hands, which I had been using to apply all of my makeup.
Going from “Lake Humid” weather in Ohio to dry Vegas air would make one think that oily skin like mine would benefit from the transition. However after air travel, the first two days of my trip I’d broken out a bit, my complexion was uneven and more oily than usual, yet the skin on my body was dryer than ever. To think I’d finally perfected my skin back at home by using coconut oil religiously…

Las Vegas ZIT!
I’ve been using Burt’s Bees Radiance Cleanser and letting it sit on my skin for a bit before I rinse it off, and I’m happy to report that my skin looks a lot better than it had when I first arrived.

This Burt’s Bees cleanser with royal jelly (sent to me by PR, available at Target) seems to balance my skin no matter what state it’s in prior to using (sometimes I switch up cleansers randomly, especially between the shower and the bathroom sink). It also gives me a healthy glow and seems to keep oil at bay all day. I love it.
I do believe that my skin responds better overall to more natural skincare products. It’s either that or high end stuff but nothing in-between.

Other standbys for Vegas climate include lip balm (I’ve been using True Shimmers ChapStick), body lotion (Vaseline Sheer Infusion), and Korres Silicone-Free Primer as a moisturizer which I admit to skipping back home. I need to pick up another jar of extra virgin coconut oil!
There are two beauty/fashion items I’m lusting over right now. One is NARS Sheer Glow foundation, which I tried right before I flew out here. I didn’t buy it nor sample it, however, but I’m tempted to purchase it while I’m here. I wonder how it would fare on my skin under these hot and dry weather conditions? The fashion item I’m lusting over is a statement watch for Spring. I don’t know if it’s the time change here or the lifestyle, but my sense of time has been thrown off. Days seem to fly by without productivity suffering, which is great, but I definitely would love a timepiece right now. I’m thinking a rosetone or even a goldtone watch (I normally wear white gold) to add an element of newless to my personal style.
So, what am I doing in Vegas? It’s for business and pleasure. Seriously, a much-needed vacation and ticket out of the Midwest! I’m staying with a friend but I’m definitely coming back in the Summer. More beauty/fashion updates to come!
