While shopping in LA at Planet Beauty with my beauty blogger bud Kia, we were so trying to resist the urge to buy things we knew we didn’t need! Not too much damage was done on my end, except I did spend $30 on a tube of mascara. Most department store brand mascaras cost around $20. I spent $30 on a lesser known mascara brand called Rilastil. It promised to volumize my lashes to the nth power. I was out of my mini tube of Estee Lauder Magnascopic mascara so I decided to drop the cash on this Rilastil Volumizing Mascara in Black. I was sure I’d be disappointed.
You know how mascaras seem to dry out after maybe the first ten uses? Well, I’ve been layering on Rilastil Volumizing mascara for a month now and it’s still as black and plush as when I first opened it. Rilastil Volumizing Mascara makes my teeny lashes look longer, blacker, and thicker. I am very impressed. I had never heard of this brand prior but I will be raving about Rilastil mascara until I find something better.
Don’t underestimate the potential of lesser-known beauty brands!
I use Lancome L’Extreme mascara for my short Asian lashes and it’s the ONLY mascara that even mildly works!
I hardly ever wear mascara though just because I gave up and don’t see the point it in anymore.. I just wear fake lashes when I go out. =P
I’m still on the search for the “perfect” mascara. Sounds goos but I don’t know about spending $30 on mascara. : /
I’ve never heard of that brand name. If saw it and if I have that amount of money to spare on it, I’d buy it.
And thanks for stopping by my blog. I’ve visited here many time but never commented until now
I have two mascaras I use, but I agree if it promises exponential lash growth I’d totally buy it too. This is a good brand to know about. Great review!
marsadie, this was going to be my next post! great minds think alike! i’ll link back to this post
great review by the way!
I just bought waterproof mascara today! Although it was only 15$ I hope it does what it promises. Maybe I will try this stuff when I have more cash$$$
<3 great post!
lol, That’s too steep for me.
Most Mascaras I own were free – got them from Clinique after buying over $20 of other products by them (gotta love the States for that).
Hmmm, never heard of it. I’m glad it worked especially after the money you spent. Good find!
[...] My love for smoky eyes in fall (and all year ’round) will never die. I turn to Lancome Statuesque eyeshadow for a matte black-out effect and amp it up with a few coats of Lash Blast or Rilastil Volumizing mascara. [...]
[...] High-End: Rilastil Volumizing Mascara ($28) – I tried this mascara on a whim, and though it was pricey, I’m glad I did! This is the best mascara I have used to date — exceeding even my Lancome and Lauder faves — and truly gives lashes a more voluminous look without clumping or dryness. I love it! (full review) [...]
When traveling in Eupose I had to leave my cosmetic in Heathrow as there was a security alert. No Make-up. It was there I found Rilastil. I love it and to me it is worth the higher cost. Nothing else ever stayed on as well!
While on my first trip to Vegas in Feb 2009, we stayed at the Wynn where i visited a little shop that sold Rilastil. I had never heard of it before and it was recommended by Aamir, the makeup specialists. Love the mascara!! I had to pay more than the $30, being Vegas I’m sure, BUT the product is everything it says it is!
